Oakland’s Piedmont Avenue merchants have announced the beginning of a new tradition on the third Thursday of each month – ART WALK – which will be held from 6 to 9 p.m.

“We look forward to showcasing our wonderful historic shopping district to the community as we celebrate the arts and enjoy the unique atmosphere of Oakland’s Piedmont Avenue,” said Erica Skone Rees of Rare Bird who chairs the Art Walk committee. “It’s a great opportunity for residents of Oakland and surrounding areas to come out and spend the evening shopping, dining and enjoying the arts and entertainment with friends and family.”

At Piedmont Avenue’s ART WALK, expect to see many art mediums, enjoy entertainment, and sample refreshments as participating businesses share their artistic abilities by showcasing hand-picked local artists and designers. Stores will remain open from 6 to 9 p.m. on each ART WALK evening.

Admission is free and parking is plentiful and free throughout the area after 6 p.m.
